FIGURES FOR THE DOMINION.
A synopsis of the recent local option poll from figures so far available shows that the voting throughout the Dominion was as follows:— Continuance 186,302 Reduction 161,815 No-license 209,144 Valid voters, 410,197. In additions to the original six nolicense districts, no-license was carried in Eden, Ohinemuri, Masterton, Wellington South and Suburbs, and Bruce Reduction was carried in Waitemata, Auckland, Manukau, Parnell, Chalmers, Dunedin, Dunedin South, and Taieri. Continuance was carried in 14 districts, and no proposal was carried in the rest. In the local option poll of 1905 the figures were as follows: — Continuance 182,884 Reduction 151,057 No-license 198,768 Valid votes recorded, 387,618. The increased vote on each issue in 1908 as compared with 1905 was as follows: — Continuance 3,418 Reduction 10,758 No-license 10,376 Valid votes increased 22,579.
