BILLIARDS.

In the big Provincial Tournament now proceeding in England, H. W. Stevenson defeated Mr. Inman (rec. 2200) by 10,000 to 9,179. The winner’s best break were 307, 334, 475, 248, 242, and 260. Inman, who had not quite settled down after his world’s tour, made runs of 231, 217, 184, 159, 145, 163, 158, and lesser ones.

C. Dawson conceded J. Mack 5000 start in a game of 16,000 up and won bq 1776 points. Dawson’s biggest break was a beautifully put together 538.

The Scottish Champion, T. Aiken, is playing in great form just now. T. Reece attempted to concede him 2000 in 16,000, and how well Reece played is shown by his making such mammoth breaks as 604, 480, 233, 203, 216, and many centuries. Aiken, however, refused to be caught and strung together, continuing runs in great style, 228, (twice), 240 and 286 being his highest contribution. At the close the scores were Aiken 16,000, Reece 15,559.

John Roberts tried to give A. E. Williams, one of the most improved players of the younger school, 4500 start in 18,000, and, although he came with a great rush at the finish, just failed to get up, being beaten by 123. A run of 331 was Roberts best effort.
