WELLINGTON RACING CLUB’S SPRING MEETING.

FIRST DAY. A' good deal of rain fell on the open ing day of the Wellington Racing Club’s Spring Meeting. The attendance was large and the racing interesting. Twenty-n ne bookmakers were licensed. The totalisator investments for the day amounted to £10,689, as compared with £14,715 for the corresponding day of the previous year. The sum of £10,352 was put through the machine for the day, as compared wih £20,098 for the corresponding day last year. The total for the meeting is £21,037, as compared with £34,813 last year.
