NOBTE OTAGO JOCKEY CLUB'S SPRING MEETING. FIRST DAY. It was wet on Thursday for the opening day of the North Otago Jockey Club’s Spring Meeting. The attendance was small and the sum of £3543 went through the machine. The results were as follows: — BELFIELD HURDLE RACE, one mile and a-half. —Ringman 1, Grosvenor 2, Leonardo 3. Also started: Oasis, Tirole, Farley Grove, Wee McGregor, Storm. Ringman won by a couple of lengths. Time, 3m. 48s. SPRING HANDICAP, five furlongs.— Balaclava 1, Passion 2, Liza 3. Also started: Wardland, Glenfield, Steplink, Ointment, Vagrance, Lady Kolmar, Royal Purple, Benzoix. Won by a short head. Time, Im. 3s. NORTH OTAGO CUP, one mile and aquarter.—All Guns 1, Saga 2, Lapland 3. Also started: St. Joe, Field Gun, Armamento. Won by four lengths. Time, 2m. 15s. FLYING HANDICAP.—Petrovna 1, Inchbonny 2, Ard Reigh 3. The Seer was scratched. Won by a length. Time, lm. 6%5. STEPNIAK STAKES, four furlongs. —Constad 1, Fasnakyle 2, Caspian 3. Also started: Aema. The second day’s racing of the North Otago Jockey Club’s Spring Meeting took place on Friday In fine weather. The sum of £3508 went through the totalisator, or a total of £7051, against £7826 last year.
