The Ashburton County Racing Club’s Sp - ing Meeting opened on Wednesday in very unfavourable weather, the results being as follow:— FIRST HURDLE RACE. —Leonardo 1, Anthony 2. Matamoa 3. Won by four lengths. Time, 3m. 24 l-ss. TRIAL PLATE. —Outlander 1. Love Wisely 2, Merry Lass 3. Won by two lengths. Time, Im. 3 4-ss. BRAEMAR WELTER HANDICAP. — Rose Noble 1, Mango 2, Hilarity 3. Won by a length. Time, Im. 30s. ASHBURTON COUNTY RACING CLUB’S HANDICAP. —Probable 1, Ringdove 2, Prim 3. Won by two lengths. Time, Im. 58 l-ss. HACK HANDICAP. — Dabchick 1, Wardland 2, Master Leslie 3. Won by a length. Time. Im. 18 l-ss. LONGBEACH TROT. —Chatham 1, Mary Lincoln 2, Elsie Lincoln 3. Time, 2m. 445. SPRING HANDICAP.—Count Witte 1, Restless 2, Miss Mischief 3. Time, Im. 16 l-ss. SECOND DAY. The weather was fine, but the course very heavy. The amount put through the totalisator for the day was £2670, as against £2BIB on the corresponding day last year.
