VINE-GROWERS TAX THEMSELVES.

At a meeting of the Pokolbin and District Vine-growers’ Association, held at Cessnock (N.S.W.) last week, it was resolved that all members of the association tax themselves at the rate of 6d per acre of vines per annum for three years for the purpose of assisting the Liquor Trades’ Defence Union, to oppose prohibitive legislation, and that subscriptions be collected at once. It was further decided to urge the necessity of the growers in the Hunter district and to the north of the district of falling in with the assessment rate, and joining the association.
