THE PROFESSIONAL TEAM’S EAST MATCH.

AUSTRALIA WINS BY 14 POINTS TO 9.

The final match during the long tour of the New Zealand professional team, took place in Sydney on Saturday, when they tackled Australia. It was, of course, a very much weaker team than it was in England. The sides were as follows: — New Zealand: Fullback, Tyne; three-quarters, Rowe, Barber, W. Wynyard, Tyler; halves, Wrigley, Wynyard; forwards, Lile, Cross, Johnston, Gilchrist. Australia: Fullback, Herley; threequarters, Cheadie, Messenger, Anderson, Devereux; halves, Rosenfield, Holloway; forwards, Graves, Cann, Lutge, Pearce, Jones, Harcastle. The first score went to the visitors. Holloway picking up in the open was penalised, and Wrigley landed a goal. A third goal was added by Wrigley as a result of a mark by Gilchrist, the half time score being: New Zealand, 6; Australia, nil. In the second half Australia towards the close outplayed the All Blacks, tries being secured by Anderson, Graves, Jones, and Messenger, one of which Messenger converted. J. Wynyard secured the olny try for the All Blacks. Wrigley failed with the kick at goal. The game ending, Australia 14, New Zealand 9.
