Summer is fast flitting by and soon the Autumn Meetings will engage attention. Prominent among these is the Avondale Jockey Club’s fixture, which takes place on Wednesday and Saturday, April 29 and May 2. The programme arranged for the meeting is as follows: First Day: The Maiden Plate, of 60 sovs, 6 furlongs; Handicap Hurd’es, of 80 sovs, 2 miles ; Oakley Handicap, of 60 sovs, 5 furlongs; Juvenile Handicap, of 70 sovs, 5 furlongs; Avondale Handicap, of 200 sovs, ij miles; First Pony Handicap, of 50 sovs, 5 furlongs; Chevalier Handicap, of 60 sovs, 4 fur’ongs; Railway Handicap, of 100 sovs, 6 furlongs. Second Day: Maiden Hurdles, of 70 govs,- miles; Flying Handicap, of 80 sovs, 4 furlongs; Second Pony Handicap, of 50 sovs, 5 furlongs; Autumn Handicap, of 130 sovs, one mile; Nursery Handicap, of 60 sovs, 6 furlongs; Steeplechase, of 70 sovs, 3 miles; Mt. Roskill Handicap, of 60 sovs, 6 furlongs; Waitakirei Handicap, of 100 sovs, 6 furlongs. Nominations for the Avondale, Autumn Steeplechase and Railway Handicap, close on Friday, April 3, while general entries are due with Mr Hayr a fortnight later.
