ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES.

On Saturday morning most of the Auckland horses engaged at Takapuna did serviceable work. Lord Seaton opened proceedings by running seven furlongs on the sand in im. 37 5 -» Lady Cressy followed with a six furlong burst in im. 2 o 3-55., Sweet Alice with a bay companion, and Ryan in the saddle slipped away from the half-mile post in 53 3"5 S > finishing together. Luros, on the tan, left the first six of seven furlongs behind in 1.23 4-55., but could haye made better time. Pohutu and Good Faith broke away for a mile and a-half on the tan, completing the first circle in 2m. 8 3-SS. ; the Derby colt pulled up quite sound. Scotty, who is very fresh, was satisfied with three-quarter pace work. Jolly Tar set his stable mate Leonator a go for four furlongs in 5° 2 “5 S on an - Necktie had the best of Lady Dot on the sand to the five furlong post in im. 6 1-SS. Advocate galloping strongly, breasted the six furlong mark on the sand in im. 23-SS. . Baltimore dressed down a mate in a circuit on the tan. Carmania was in front of Engraver in a slow six furlongs on the tan in im. 265. Omati galloped round the tan very fast in im. 53 s - Shrapnel, on the same track, finished up the last five of nine furlongs in im. 7s. English and the Salvadan colt, galloped in company for six furlongs, but were not looking for time. Philosopher beat Inglis pointless from the six furlong mark on the tan in im. 225. Portlight galloped freely for five furlongs (short) on the tan in im. 23-SS. Talepitcher spurted a few furlongs. Ranana. Waipuna, General Soult, Santa Rosa, Waimangu, Master Delaval and others did half-pace work. All the work was done the reverse way round. After breakfast Sonoma, with Mark Ryan up, was galloping much better than usual on the tan, the first five furlongs were negotiated in im. 5 s - Khama did a circle steady, and was joined by Te Aka for another round at top, the latter was no use to Khama. Cachuca had Catch em in trouble at the end of a round over the schooling hurdles in im 535, although the latter fenced the better of the two. Dogger Bank, who was anxious to go faster, left six furlongs behind on the tan from post to nost in im. 21 1-SS. Katangata settled Pairawaatu’s chance in a short burst of four furlongs. The doublewinner Grey Dawn got round the tan in 2m. 11 i-5 s - Turbine brought St. Harp home the last six furlongs of nine on the tan. Necktie and Lady Dot skipped over six furlongs on the sand in im. 195.. the former well to the front. Maheno left three-quarters of a mile behind in im. 21 3-SS. Veronica proved too solid for Luros at the end of five furlongs on the sand in im. 6 1-SS. Dogger Bank spurted three furlongs on the tan with the two-year-old Rarata in 37 3-5 s - Advocate was in front of Philosopher at the finish of six furlongs on the sand in im. 20 1-SS. First Gun and another slipped over five furlongs on the sand in im. 6 2-SS. Dardaneus alone galloped six furlongs on the tan in im., 20 3"5 S - Carmania, Engraver and English broke away from the winning post and finished up at the six furlongs post in this order in im. 19 3-5 s - on the sand. Lucrece easily settled Octoroon in a four furlong sprint on the tan in 51 i-gs. Cachuca - hung, on to’ Port Light in a circuit on the

tan in im. 56 2-SS. Talepitcher was too fleet for Allanah and another over fourfurlongs in 525. Alamathea spurted four furlongs alone, showing good pace. Omati got round the tan in im. 535. Pamperia, Dunborve, Epsom Lass. Leonator, Jolly Tar, Master Delaval, Waipuna, Kaitangata, Inglis and Uhlander also did medium pace work. After Breakfast Gall’s three rough ones, Hidden Treasure, Te Ika, and Caricole, galloped five furlongs in im. 9 2-55. La Cigale easily beat Sonoma six furlongs on the tan in im. 2is, Adeline fluttered over five furlongs on the sand in im. 7 4-SS. Pairawaatu and Hopscotch finished together over four furlongs on the sand in 53 i-$ s - Loongana spurted a short four furlongs on the tan in 435. Lochbuie put in good graft for five furlongs on the same track in im. 7 2-SS. Khama got round the tan in 2m. 5 2-SS. .Lady Francis worked in company with Roosevelt. Master Soult had Denbies for a mate for half amile. the Master in front in 51 4-SS. Turbine easily held St. Harp for a circle on the tan in im. 59 2-gs. Lady Lanta; did the same task in im. 57 4-SS. Lady Hune and another also worked.
