UNLAWFUL OCCASIONS.

At the Magistrate's Court at Warkworth last week, before Mr. R. W. Dyer, S.M., Captain Scholium, Captain Rogers, and Sullivan (steward) of the Settlers’ s.s. Kotiti, were charged with selling liquor at Matakane Wharf, having no license to do so. The case against Rogers was dismissed, the license not being in his name, and as he was in temporary charge, in Scholium’s absence, the steward was convicted. The fine will be fixed, and Schollum’sf case will be heard by argument at Auckland on October 2. Sub-Inspector Gordon appeared for the police and Mr. M. G. McGregor for defendants.
