ATHLETICS.
AUCKLAND ATHLETIC CLUB. The weekly meeting of the Auckland Athletic Club was held last week in fine but cold weather. The attendance was estimated at about 1500. The number of nominations received was 191, of whom 168 accepted. The meeting, as usual, was well managed, the events being got off promptly. The officials were Messrs. W. Riley (starter), Bert Buchanan (track manager), C. Tapper and J. Lecky (judges), Riley and Burbush (handicappers) and E. Dell (track steward). A feature of the meeting was the working of the electric judging machine, the invention of an Auckland boy, Mr. Sid Lecky. Results of racing were: —Second round —First heat: L. Nolan, 9*yds, 7 3-ssec.. Second heat: J. Barry, 9*yds, 7 3-ssec. Third heat: Davidson, yds, 7 3-ssec. Mattocks, 9%yds, 7 3-ssec; Hally, 9yds, 7 3-ssec.; Rowe, 6*yds, 7 3-ssec. Final result: G. Davidson, 7*yds, 1; G. Mattocks, 2; E. Rowe, 6%yds, 3; H. Halley, 9yds, 4. Time, 7 3-ssec. J. Barry ran third, but was disqualified for life for inconsistent running.
