Ashplant, the half-brother to John Peel, of T. Quinlivan, junr’s team, jjas been performing .creditably over the country at Hastings during the week; the gelding will be a candidate in events confined to the hunt'ng classes. Rechabite has been taken in hand again by Paddy Raynor; Jacobite’s son looks in ready health, and his trainer anticipates that he will be able to get h’m well enough to do him credit. Johnston and Mr G. P. Donnelly have each left a trio in; Mr E.. J. Watt and Mr T. H. Lowry and Sir Wm. Russell are represented by a brace apiece.

The acceptances for the Hawke’s Bay Guineas for 1907 number 23, the Hon. J. D .Ormond and Mr G. P. Donnelly each have left a quartette in; other local owners in Messrs T. H. Lowry, E. J. Watt, and W. J. Douglas are represented ; the two former gentlemen having a couple against their names, while the laird of Te Mahanga has got one to do batt’-e for him.
