COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS’ FARES.
At a general meeting of the members of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce held last week, Mr F. E. Jackson moved, “That the ensuing Council be requested to confer with the Auckland Commercial Travellers’ Club as to the railway fares charged .0 commercial travellers as against those charged to members of theatrical companies. ”He could not, he said, see why members of theatrical companies, who took money out of the country, should be allowed to travel first-class for second-class fares, whilst commercial travellers, who brought revenue to the railways, had to pay the full fares. (Hear, hear.) Mr H. Green seconded the motion. The President: “I always understood that commercial travellers received some consideration.” Mr Jackson: “No; they pay the full fares.” Mr J. H. Upton moved, as an amend-
ment, “That the ma.ter be referred to the Council for consideration,” and this was carried.
