“THE LADDER OF LIFE.”
This evening, at His Majesty’s Theatre, Mr. William Anderson’s Dramatic Company will make a welcome appearance in Charles Rogers’ intensely exciting military drama, ‘ The Ladder of Life.” The plot of the story simply teems with hair-raising* incidents, the best of which, from a spectacular point of view, are the storming of the Darghai Heights by the Gordon Highlanders, and the re markable escape of the heroine from certain death by means of the living ladder. Both these incidents have the effect of rousing the enthusiasm of the audience to the utmost pitch. It is a play which must inevitably appeal to an Auckland audience, which has over and over again shown that the most popular dish is the one in which the condiment of sensation is laid on with no niggard hand. Mr. Anderson may always be depended upon to stage a production in first-class style, and “The Ladder of Life” wil form no exception to this rule, as may be seen when it is stated that over 100 auxilaries will be utilised in the production. The piece is to be staged with the utmost completeness, and should most certainly be seen.
