FATAL FIRE.

Early last Friday morning McCann’s Hotel, at Tapanui, was burned to the ground. It was subsequently discovered that Father McGrath, who was lodging in the house, was burned to death. It appears that the rev. gentleman was in the habit of reading in bed. It is stated that the proprietor, Mr. McCann, is a heavy loser, his insurances being light.
