THE AUCKLAND RACING CLUB’S SUMMER MEETING. The summer meeting of the Auckland Rac ng Cub will be continued on Friday and Monday, and brought to a conclusion on Tuesday. In the event of fine weather favouring the meeting it seems as though all records as far as attendance and totalisator returns wdi go by t he board. Friday is to a certain extent to be considered an “otr" day, but with the large number of visitors in town the attendance at Ellerslie should be well up to the average, even if it does not exceed it. The usual means of reaching the course will be available, there being numerous special trains, while trams will run every few minutes on the Remuera section. The first race will be started promptly at noon. Owing to the acceptances not being available at the time of go ng to press, anything in the nature of a forecast is practically out of the question. If started the following appear to have .ikely chances in the order named: — Alexandra Handicap: Landlock, Full Cry, Master Delaval. Ponsonby Hurdles: Waiwera, Inniskillen, Ranana. Criteron Handicap: Cambrian, Pylades, Loongana. Summer Cup : Zuleika, Putty, Armistice. Salisbury Welter: Leonator, Noteorini, Monoform. Pony andicap: Lady Warwick, Little Mabel, Lady Nannie. Waitemata Handicap: The Lark, Bromide, Hiro. The following are the handicaps : — Alexandra Handicap. Seven furlcngs.

Handicaps for the first day’s events of the Whangarei meeting are due on January 3. The meeting, which takes place on January 12 and 13, promises to I e highly successful. Drury races take place to-day, and a number of Auckland sportsmen intend patronising the fixture. « « » « General entries for the summer meeting of the Takapuna Jockey Club close on January 5. * * * * The Great Northern Derby takes place next Monday. So far eleven remain in, but when the numbers go up it will probably be found that only half a dozen will be ready to compete for the Blue Ribbon of the North. Kng Billy should win from Mult fid and Gay Spark. « * * * The Royal Stakes should virtually resolve itself into a trangular dual between Kirriemuir, Cuneiform, and King Billy, and they may catch the judge’s eye in that order.
