Although for some time in doubt, it now seems tolerably clear that reduction has been voted in Manukau, the majority for that issue being some 80 votes. A question has been raised as to the manner of dealing with 113 informal votes. If these are added to the total number pf valid votes then reduction fails. If carried- there is some question of the decision being contested. In the Manukau electorate there are seventeen licensed houses ; eight are in Onehunga, two at Otahuhu, two at Papakura, and one each ■at - Ellerslie, Drury, Miranda, Ho wick- and Qlevedon.
