TRAINING NOTES.
ELLERSLIE. On Thursday morning the tracks were in a ve/y bad state owing to the recent rains, consequently only moderate jtfirk was indulged iij on the sand and tan tracks. Saturday morning being fine*, lot of good work was got through after breakfast. Waitati and Alba Rose finished together over a three-furlong course in the good time of 38 3-ssec on the sand. Lady Clements, who looks, big and well, had a couple of rounds at half pace, while Girton Girl, looking very fit, spurted a few furlongs alone. Lord Seaton pulled over Kola Nip for four furlongs in 54 3-ssec. General Average and Nervine left the same distance behind in 54see. in that order. Major broke away from the winning post and completed the circle in 2min 12sec alons. Lady Annie, who looks to have wintered well, had a couple of rounds at half pace. Monoform (Ben Deeley) and King Paul (V. Cotton) finished in this order for five furlongs in Imin I'lsec. The latter looks a bit light. Annette, looking big and bright, was sprinted a few furlongs. The Middy and Trephine did threequarter pace work for eighteen furlongs. The speedy Siren had Foremost tied in a knot in a three furlongs’ sprint in 42 l-ssec. The Songstress colt and another two-year-old was spurted on the course proper for two furlongs, finishing together. Waikato, never looking better, took .matters easily for two circuits on the san. Miss Lottie and Apologue finished together from the seven furlongs’ post in imin 41 2-ssec. Landlock and a chestnut stable mate fluttered over three furlongs in 41sec, Lieeping together. Calle Iris and another got over the six furlongs’ course in imin BOsec, but could have improved the time. Avalanche's full sister and the Menschikoff—Miss ; uail colt jumped off at the old mile post on the course proper, and completed the three furlongs in 41sec, with little to choose between the pair. Scotty pulled over Lycia for nine furlongs, and finished the distance in 2min tosec, but could have done better. The best gallop of the morning was between Putty and Sir Gilead (with two Sloanites, B. Deeley and V. Cotton, up). Thev ran the first six of seven furlongs in Imin 22 2-ssec, and the chestnut had the best of the bout. Sir Gilead being a slow beginner. A lot of other useful work was got through. Te Papa and Cuiragno jumped seven of the schooling hurdles. The latter rapped his jumps, while the former jumped faultlessly.
