GISBORNE RACING CLUB’S STEEPLECHASE MEETING.

FIRST DAY. Beautiful weather prevailed for the first day of the above club’s Steeplechase meeting. The sum of £4116 was passed through the totalisator. The following were the results; — First Handicap Hurdles; two miles.—lnspan 1: Roseplot2; Vivacity 3. Scratched: Ludo, Minerve and Morehu. Won by four lengths. Time, Smin 59 3-sth sec. Dividends, £llss and £1 3s. Maiden Scurry ; five furlongs.—Luck’s All 1; Paremata 2; Melton Hall 3. Ten others started. Dividends, £2 13 and £1 9s. Flying Handicap; six furlongs.—Ladylike 1; Barilla 2; Manawaru 3. Scratched: Motor, Casino, Anxiety, TTiki and Spryshot. Won by a length and a-half. lime, min 18 2-sth sec.
