STUD NOTES.
The well-known stallion Explosion is to travel the Otahuhu, Drury, Pukekohe, Wairoa, Whitford and Mangere districts this season. His services should be freely availed of, for he is an exceptionally fine horse. Got by Cuirassier from Jadestone, a half-sister to Nordenfeldt, this handsome young stallion lacks for nothing on the score of breeding, an his memorable race with Seahorse at Ellerslie proved conclusively that gameness was one of his attributes, as well as great galloping ability. Explosions stock promise remarkably well, and when it is noted that his terms are only six guineas for thoroughbred mares and four guineas for half-bred mares, it will 'be realised that the figure is a very low one indeed for such a horse. * * * *
Pilgrim’s Progress finished eleventh on the list of winning sires in Australia last season, with twenty winners of forty-six races. * * =• *
Pistol, by Carbine —Wenonah, who has been imported to South Australia by Mr J- H. Aldridge, is to have a very r light season at the stud this year. He will be limited to six public mares in addition to eight of his owner's. * * * *
Full particulars of the Wellington Park stallions, Hotchkiss, Seaton Delaval, Menschikoff and Bluejacket will be found in this issue. They' have already been referred to at length in this column. * * » *
Formo’s foal by Hotchkiss is said to be a very fine one. This youngster is a full-brother to Multiform, and if all goes well will be much talked about later bn.
