FIRST DAY. With an overcast sky' and a stiff northerly breez® ■blowing, Saturday could not be termed an ideal day for the opening day of the Auckland Racing Club’s Bpring Meeting. The attendance was somewhat disappointing, though the. totalisator figures exceeded the sum handled on the corresponding day of last year’s spring gathering.
