The Ladies Golf Tournament was continued during the week at Cornwall Park. The foursomes match was won by Mrs W. R. Bloomfield and Miss Lewis (scratch), who met Miss Tarrante and Miss E. Pierce (receive. 16) in the final. The winners had a hard fight for their victory, as at the end of the first half of the game their opponents were two up, and were ultimately defeated by one hole only. The prizes won during the tournament will be presented ito the winners at the clubhouse on the 15th inst. by Lady Ranfurly, who has- kindly consented to distribute the trophies. Some of the driving in the ladies’ comoetitions was very good. Miss E. Pierce made the longest drive with 169 yards, her other drive being 153 yards, and she should have won, but her third drive went out of bounds. Miss Richmond won with 159 yards, 157 yards, and 148 yards : total, 464 yards—very even driving indeed. Miss B. Gorrie was second, with a total of twelve yards less.

Mrs Bloomfield won the approaching and putting competition from thirty-three competitors, after a great battle with Mrs O’Rorke.

The final of the Auckland ladies' championship was played on Thursday, at the Cornwall links, between the Misses Lewis and Gillies, a splendid game resulting. The two ladies were wonderfully evenly matched, and the issue remained in doubt to the very end. At Jacob's Ladder Miss Gillies got ahead, winning three consecutive holes, which left her four up. Miss iLewis took the Pah hole, and the Ramparts ,was halved, the same resulting at the Amphitheatre, owing to Miss Gillies foozling her putt. Miss Lewis, playing with great determination, took the next two holes in five and three respectively, while the seventeenth hole was halved, this leaving Miss Gillies dormy one. At the last hole both ladies got on the green in three, the play being watched with the keenest interest. If Miss Gillies’ putt had been succesfeful she would have won the match, but she over-ran the hole, while Miss Lewis laid the putt dead, and wbn the hole. This left the match a tie between the two players, and it was decided to play another hole to decide the

game. Both players seemed somewhat nervous, Miss Gillies foozling,, while Miss Lewis sliced her ball badly. The latter lady was on the green in three, and Mis& Gillies getting into bad ground took six to hole. Miss Lewis having holed in five, won the match and the championship by one up, after one of the best games seen on the links. The members of the Auckland Golf Clu-b played off the annual match for the Fry Challenge Cup at the Cornwall Park links on Saturhay afternoon. 'I he game, was one of eighteen holes, bogey handicap. The results were as follow :—W. B. Colbeck, one up ; H. Gillies, one up ; H. Gilfillan. three down; J. AV. Hall, three down ; the Rev. C. Tisdall, five down ; E. AV. Payton, five down ; C. Heather, five down ; AV. Heather, R. Horton, E. Dargaville, J. R. Reed, and E. Turner, each six down ; Dr. Coates, seven down ; W. E. Druce and E. Anderson, eight down ; AV. McMillan, L. E. Mair, and C. R. Pollen, nine down.
