The much discussed subject of tnrf nomenclature was under consideretion. The new chum pointed out with pride that the “ class” owners of England made frequent, euphonious and appropiate use of classic names, compared with which the names of horses out here generally struck him as being very commonplace. “ Now, fancy calling a horse Purser,” he said. “ Oh, well, that ain’t so bad,” remarked a man leaning against the bar counter. “If he happened to be in trouble, don’t yer know, the ‘ stewards* could’nt come down very hard on the Purser!”
