New companies at the Opera House and His Majesty’s Theatre. _ ® « Judging by the large audiences at the Opera House the drama is a favourite style of entertainment in Auckland. # # © Mr Fred. Duval, who has been associated with Mr P. K. Dix for the past two years as general manager of the latter’s circuit, has accepted the position of touring manager of Mr W. Anderson’s Dramatic Company during its colonial tour. & & o * The Lynch Family of Bellringers and their new English Specialists’ Organisasation open in Adelaide on January 31.
* * -MEddie Nable, one tune oi Foliar d’e Opera Company, and now in South Africa, has accepted an engagement with Fleming and Friedman’s Comedy Company as a comedian.
<1- * -ii- -a Mr J. C. Williamson s Dramatic Company, with “ Sherlock Homes,” are billed to appear at the following towns after the Wellington season : — Palmerston North, February 6th and 7th Wanganui, February 9th and 10th ; Hastings, February 11th; Napier, February 12th and 13th; and Auckland, February 16th>
The Steele-Payne Bellringers have returned to New Zealand, and are at present doing the “smalls” of the South Island. The company consists of Mr and Mrs Steele, Miss Kate Maher, Miss Agnes Rahilly, Miss Maude Payne, and Mr James Williams Mr R. J. Tregaski is still advance agent.
