In moving the committal of the bill. Sir Joseph Ward said that when the measure was in committee he would propose an alteration in sub-section 8 of clause 20. A mistake had occurred in that clause which w'ould he disastrous in its effects. It related to the providing of air space> but as the sub-section would operate, it would involve, in suchj a case as that of the Empire Hotel, in Wellington, an expenditure of from £lO,OOO to £1.5,000. Therefore, he would move'an alteration. The subsection was struck out as proposed.
