Lord Hawkejs, team for the New Zealand tour has'now been completed, the personnel being as under : —Lord Ha'wke, Warner,• Burnup, Taylor, Fane, Bosanquet, Johnson, Stanning, DawSon, Leatham, Hargreaves, Thompson and Whitmam The team leaves England next Sunday- The combination ,is a fairly strong one, and, should render a good. acCOurit of itself against New Zealand. Having been appointed to the position of secretary pf the New Zealand Cricket Council, Mr F. C. Raphael(. has resigned the secretaryship of the Can-, terhurv -Cricket’ Association. During the recent. English tour W. W. Armstrong and M. A. Noble each secured, more than 30 caeches. C. Hill,. J. Darling,. V. Trumpet, A. J. Hopkins. R. A. Duff, J. J. Kelly, H. Carter and S. E. Gregory each secured either, 20 or more catches. The fielding of the team throughout was the subject of universal praise at the hands of > the English critics’. ■ ■ Messrs J. Marshall and F. Earl, haveguaranteed the amount required by the Cricket Council for the Auckland match against Lord Hawke’s team-. Entries for the various premiershipmatches are due on Friday next,; and the draw will take place immediately afterwards. Knights of the willow were looking forward to a good practice on Saturday, turning up at the Domain in great force. It was not to be, however, for just about the 'time for starting Jupiter Pluvius turned on the taip, and soon, seeing the prospect was / hopeless, cricketers wended their way homewards, lamenting > the ill-luck which has so constantly dogged their footsteps.
