This mornibg was fine and the track m excellent condition when a large number, of the candidates for honors at the approaching race meetings put in an .appearance Catspaw and Kowhete went seven furlongs, the brown filly getting home in front. Creusote and Liquefy finished together after a sixfurlong go. Sirius went . over a mile with, Shackle, the Dreadnought gelding getting the. best of ’it. In a mile and a-quarter gallop with Comfort la was leading passing the post. Rubin and Meta McCarthy went once round at top. Eland covered two circuits at a serviceable pace. Shellback galloped three times round. Drakensburg did a threecircuit gallop on the plough, and Stepdaughter was also given useful employment. Master Model and Cobra negotiated one and a-half miles over sticks, the Torpedo mare leading home by a •length. Baldie and. Modesty were associated in a mile and a-quarter go, the former winning easily. The Phantom was worked on the sand track. Ballyneety rattled over a mile at top on his own. Taniwha went once round. Mr E. J. Watt’s youngsters, Captain Kettle, Melodion and Starshot, skipped over four furlongs on the course proper, Captain Kettle leading past the post. Abergeldie and The Gryphon galloped a mile over hurdles, jumping cleverly. The training tracks on the Napier Park course are in splendid order just now, a,nd full advantage is being taken of this fact by the Greenmeadows trainers getting their ' charges in nick for the approaching meetings. Some capital work was registered this morning. Inspan, who is looking very, well, went once round at a good solid pace. Eclaire, Manners and Crown Prince weie associated in a turn over the hurdles, jumping six fences. They all performed well, Eclaire finishing in front. D. Watt - had the mount on the winner. McLaughlin is schooling Manners. Darehevil covered a couple of circuits at a strong pace ;he is looking well. Lissa and Aroha left yesterday to fulfil engagements at Wanganui.
