For the Wellington Racing Club’s Summer Meeting second day the weather was fine uutil the conclusion of the last race, when steady rain set in. The attendance was limited, not more than 2000 being present. £10,437 was put through the totalisator, making £27,180 for the two days, as against £29,743 for the two days of the Summer Meeting last year. A fierce southerly gale blew, with accompanying heavy showers of rain, and at times a violent hailstorm swept over the course. Notwithstanding the handful of people present speculation was brisk, and £7003 was put through the machines, making £34,183 for the meeting, as against £29,743 for last year’s Slimmer Meeting, when the Club only raced on two days.
