Notes for Owners and Trainers

The entries for. the Takapuna meeting must be made with Mr R. Wynyard before 9 o’clock tomorrow evening. Nominations for the Grand National Hurdles and Great Northern Steeplechase are due on April 28. The nomination fee in each race is only 2 sovs. , The Wanganui steeplechase meeting is always an important gathering, and owners should not forget that the programme will require attention on Monday next, April 24. The following are the events for which nominations become due on Monday : —The Flying Stakes of 70 sovs, six furlongs ; Wanganui Steeplechase of 300 sovs, about three miles ; Hunters’ Steeplechase of 50 sovs, about three miles; First Handicap Hurdle Race, of 100 sovu, about two miles and a distance; First Hack Hurdle Handicap of 60 sovs, about one mile and a half; Suburban Steeplechase of 80 sovs, two miles and a half; First Hack Flat Handicap of 50 sovs, one mile and a distance; Winter Oats Handicap of 100: sovs, one mile and a half on the flat; Second Handicap Hurdle Race of 100 sovs about, two miles; Grand Stand Steeplechase of 120 sovs, about two miles; Hunters’ Hurdle Race of 50 sovs, two miles; Second Hack Hurdle Handicap of 60 sovs, about one mile and a half; Final Steeplechase of 70 sovs, about two miles; Second Hack Flat Handicap of 50 sovs one mile. On May 9 the weights for the first day’s racing are promised. To-day is the second day of the Nelson J.C. annual meeting. To-day and to-morrow the Ashburton County R C. annual meeting will be held. Next Wednesday the Wellington R.C. Autumn Meeting will bs commenced and continued on the following Friday. Wellington nominations, minor events, are due to-morrow.

The weights for the Takapuna J.C. Birthday, First Hurdles, and the Steeplechase Handicaps are promised on April 28 Acceptances for the North Island Challenge Stakes are due to-morrow.
