Monte Carlo, in the Electric Handicap (saddle), trotted a mile in 2min 26|, beating the record, and in Dash Handicap (harness) in 2min 27|sec, which, excepting Fritz’s, is the best New Zealand performance. At the second day of the meeting, on October 15, the sum of £2llB passed through the totalisator,, making £4698 for the meeting. Monte Carlo accomplished brilliant performances, trotting second in the Spring Handicap, two miles, in harness, in 4min 58aec ; and in the Final Handicap, one mile, saddle, in 2min 24-Jsec.
