Sarda backed—Teddy Yuille-Missfire— The bookmakers win —The Hunt Club nominations. Dunedin, August 17. Sarda has been backed for a thousand in the New Zealand Cup, but I could not ascertain the figure. Teddy Yuille is on his way to Dunedin, and is expected to-day. I hear it is his intention to invest some of his surplus capital in some of our goldfield ventures. An offer of £l5O was made for Missfire the night before he ran second in the Grand National Hurdles, but was refused. Mr Curtis, however, intends to part with him, so he will probably have found a buyer at the sale in Christchurch. Missfire ran a good horse, which justified the opinion I have so repeatedly expressed of his doings at the Forbury. He had the bad luck to meet a fast customer in Umslopogaas. Our bookmakers are in great glee, all having skinned their doubles on the two Nationals —a good beginning for the season. Nominations for our Hunt Club Meeting are due on Saturday.
