Mr L. D. Nathan has called the Hotchkiss — Weazel colt Kettledrum, and the big colt by Cuirassier —Jadestone Explosion. J. Gallagher, who has been suffering from rheumatism, has gone to the Rotorua hot springs. The Friar arrived in Auckland on Wednesday. The catering for the inner man at the Takapuna meeting has been entrusted to Mr T. MeEwin, which is a guarantee that the visitors to the meeting will not go hungry or unsatisfied. A first-class luncheon is promised. The outline of the programme prepared by the Auckland Trotting Club, for the meeting to be held on Record Reign Day, in aid of the sufferers by the Hawke’s Bay floods, appears in our advertising columns. The business address of Mr T. D. Halstead, veterinary surgeon, appears in our advertising columns. Mr Halstead is a favourite with Auckland owners, and will doubtless have a monopoly of their patronage. The secretary of the Wellington Racing Club advertises the Winter Steeplechase and Hunt Club Meeting, to be—held on July 7th and 10th ; also the conditions of future events, to be run at meetings in 1898 and 1899. These events are the Wellesley Stakes of 1898 and 1899, the Wellington Stakes of 1899, and the N.Z. St, Leger of 1899.
