WELLINGTON.

Late nominations — The movement of horses.

Wellington, October 19.

Through closing their nominations at noon instead of the usual time, eighteen nominations intended for the Otaki Meeting came to hand too late. This means a loss of about £lOO to the Club.

J. H. Prosser leaves for Wanganui to-morrow, taking The Miser and First Result. None of the Hutt-trained horses are engaged at the meeting. George Wright passed through on his way south on-Friday. Acone, on his Napier running, should account for a race at Riccarton. Woodstock ran badly at Napier Park when supported, and has not been paid up for in the Derby. - li has been decided not to send Auetr.-l south, and his name consequently does not appear amonj the acceptors for the Curragh Steeplechase. I understand limothy goes down next week. He is favourably handicapped, and should take some beatins?. W. Homes’ team for Riccarton will include Ngatucre, Lorelei, Osmanie, and Umslopogaas. The di-tance of the Wairarapa Cup has been reduced from one mile and a half to one mile and a quarter. The Caulfield Cup winner had not many supporters here. The number of acceptors for the New Zealand Cup has exceeded expectations, but it is calculated that a further dropping out will take place after the Wanganui meeting. Some diversity of opinion exists here as to the relative chances of Euroclydon and Day Star for the New Zealand Cup. Both have strong supporters, and several level tenners have been laid about one horse beating the other. The Ingomar mares were comfortably boxed on the s.s. Aotea, which sailed for England on Saturday last.
