CANTERBURY NOTES.
Great interest is being taken in the trotting match between W. and C. Kerr’s Wildwood and D. Price’s Prince Imperial. The match is for £SOO a-side, the best of three one-mile heats. The course has not yet been definitely decided upon, but it is believed Plumpton Park will be the venue. Such an important match should, I think, be decided on the best track in Canterbury. I am sure faster time would be put up if it could
foe arranged .to decide the contest on the Lancaster Park or Show Ground tracks. Both horses are doing good work, and should be very ■fit by the 19th of September. B. Edwards, who intends leaving Christchurch to settle at Palmerston North offered his trotters for sale by public auction on Tuesday last. Very few horses chan red hands, the reserves not being reached. Rarus, by Fitzjames, was passed in at £2O. The bay colt Imperial, by Imperious, was ■passed in at £SO. Judge, by Judge Belden, was passed in at £ll. A bay filly, two years (fullsister to'lmperial), was sold to Mr Sefton for £ls.
The well-known trotting pony, Fantasy, was ■offered for sale at Tattersail’s on Saturday last, and was passed in at £lO.
