Mr John Coyle has been appointed handicapper for Marton. Dremedary and Booties were shipped South on Monday; a passage was also booked for Timothy, but he pulled up sore this morning, and will not be taken down.

A meeting of the stewards of the Wairarapa Racing Club was held at the Empire Hotel, Featherstone, on Saturday, when the following members were present : Messrs F. Pearce (in the chair), G. Reynolds, W. J. Nix, A. Wilkinson, and the Secretary. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer reported a debit balance of £245 13s sd. Correspondence was read from Mr Hogg, M.H.R., stating that, should any amendments affecting the legislation of racing clubs come forward this session, it would receive his consineration, and from Mr Buchanan, M.H.R., stating that, while agreeing with the resolutions forwarded by the club, he did not see much chance of being able to do anything, as the Government and its supporters all voted for the abolition of the totalisator.
