HASTINGS TRAINING NOTES

Training gallops in view of the approaching fixtures at Hastings and Napier Park. Good, sound work was slipped into a number of the local teams at Hastings on Tuesday morning. Bob Gooseman was the first to set them a go, Searchlight being sent twice round, at a good solid pace for the last six furlongs. Maxim s daughter had the assistance of Brennan, the full brother to 'Torpina seeming to hold his own with the mare. T Rose and Direct Veto were associated in a once-round go at top, the former having the most to say at the finish. Aio and Sparkle cut a merry six furlongs, the old mare holding the Fusilade horse all the way. Blarney and Glenfeldt were sent once round at top, both going and looking well. Gondolier and Mysterious did a couple of circuits, the last at top. Gold Cup did a fast once round, finishing up well. Allan-a-dale and Primula were sent once round at a good clinking bat. Both seem to be in great heart and are working well. Blackberry did half-pace work, and he will be worth watching in the hurdle events at the Park. Glengarry had a bit the best of Totorua in a twice-round gallop. Hopeful did threequarter-pace work on Monday morning. This fellow repeatedly refused while being schooled over the steeplechase course. Martyrdom, Solitaire, and Daring did a rattling six-furlong gallop, the trio finishing well together. Midas did a useful gallop of once round, then with Douglas Watt in the saddle went three chnes-over the steeplechase course, jumping and galloping in a very taking style. Valula did once round over the timber, the half-sister to Gondolier shaping in a very satisfactory manner. Both of Connop’s Castor oolts did a good sixfurlong gallop. Lots of other horses were eut, but their work calls for no special comment. On Monday morning Tiritaa acquitted himself in a tradesman-like manner over the steeplechase •ourse. At Napier Park, Zaccho, Hilda 11., and Queensborough have been doing soma good serviceable work over the timber, and Leontine and Kingsman have been putting in some good working gallops.
