Y. .-■ [.OiyN Cobbespondents.] ' - '■ ; WELLINGTON. Strathbraan. to compete at the C.J.C. Easter Meeting —The Miser a probable JGrand National Hurdle can-didate-important addition to Wairarapa thoroughbred stock —Wellington Racing Club will not hold their Winter Meeting—Strathbraan in good nick—Large list of nominations for Wairarapa Easter Meeting. [by wibe.] March 30. Stuart Waddell passed through south to-day, on his way to Riccarton with the Hon. J. D. Ormond’s team, namely, Spindrift, Solitaire, Hopeful, Trentalto, and Dauntless In all probability Strathbraan will go south on Wednesday. What the stable’s intention is, with reference to Feilding, I have not learned, but Leda might be sent up Nominations for the Wairarapa Easter Meeting, which closed on Saturday night, are not to hand yet. The blood stock purchased by the Wairarapa sports at Mr Douglas’ sale, have reached home safely. They are as follows : —Bay filly Blue and White (Q.uilt —Uira), 3yrs, purchased by Mr P. F. Tancred. Gravestock also had in his are a yearling roan colt, by Patriarch from Mr Tancred’s old mare, Princess Royal, who is at present on a visit to Seaton Delaval. The other Te Mahanga bred ones were : —Yearling bay gelding, by Hiko —Phoenix, purchased by Mr P. Cooper. The bay filly by Hiko —Religeuse, brown filly by Quilt —Waitiri, gelding by Tor-

pedo —Swivelline, and bay gelding by Quuilt — Jeuzail, were purchased by Mr W. Strang. I understand First Result and Steel King will fulfil their Feilding engagements. The latter, since his last public appearance, has been blistered for a throat affection, and it is hoped this will have the effect of stopping his “ barking.” - The Miser, who bruised one of his heels at the Manawatu Autumn Meeting, has done nothing since, and runs out in a paddock during the day. He still shows signs of soreness. Should he recover in time, it is Mr Prosser’s intention to school the son of Germaine (a well-known performer over hurdles) with a view of journeying io the Christchurch Grand National Meeting. Gaspard, the Miser’s four-year-old brother, is stabled, but will not race till next season The Baillie and Kaahu are turned out, and they will not be taken up till next spring. So far I have not noticed the names of any of the racing clubs among the donors to the Brunnerton Disaster Fund. The Shannon Racing Club’s Hack Meeting takes place on Friday, April 10th. Mr J. Coyle is handicapper. The local stables will probably enter for the Nelson Meeting next month. Mr Lyon informed me to-day (Tuesday) that there was no probability of his Club holding another meeting this season. Kent accompanies Strathbraan South. The stable will be represented at Feilding by Leda. Salute was not long a resident of Davis’ stable, having been sold to Mr J. F. Orr, a Wairarapa sport. Salute has been entered by his new owner for the Wairarapa Racing Club’s Easter Meeting. It is reported that Strathbraan has done a satisfactory gallop at the Hutt, and will take beating in whatever race he starts for at Riccarton. I forward the nominations for the Wairarapa Meeting, which are very satisfactory, being a total of 206 against 179 last year, and although the stake money is reduced one third, the nomi-

nation money totals £ll3 10s against £ll5 last year. The meeting being held on Easter Monday and Tuesday, the bookmakers will not be able t> be present in large numbers. Most of the local punters appear to be going to Feilding, presumably following the success of the stable presided over by W. Homes.
