A GREAT TROTTING PERFORMANCE.

— Fritz Lotvers the Australian Record by 10 l-ssee. Visitors to the Australian Trotting Association’s Meeting at Moonee Valley (writes the Sydney Referee) had the pleasure of witnessing the finest exhibition of trotting ever seen in Australia. In the Intercolonial Free-for-All Trot or Pace, Mrs J. A. .Buckland’s Fritz won three straight heats of a mile each, lowering the Australian record on each occasion. In the first heat he met Osterley, Calista, St. Louis, and Mystery, winning by 75yds from the first-named in 2min 19sec, while St. Louis and Mystery were distanced. He started at 5 to 4 on in this heat, but for the next he went out at 6 to 1 on, and won by nearly a distance in 2min 16 2-ssec. In the third heat he improved upon his previous efforts by distancing both Osterley and Calista, and cut out the mile in 2min 14 4-ssec, thus lowering Osterley’s record of 2min 25sec by 10 l-ssec. Fritz is a five-j ear-old bay gelding by Vancleve from Fraulein, who is by the imported American stallion Berlin. Vancleve is an imported horse by Harold, the sire of Maud S. Fritz was bred by Mr J. A. Buckland, who drove him. Many good judges aver that on a prepared track the horse would be capable of doing close to 2min ssec, and in view of his great performances on a track like Moonee Valley there is little reason to doubt it.
