Our Christchurch correspondent wired us follows on Monday evening : —lnquiries are being made here as to the identity of a. horse named Rucley, who trotted at several meetings south of Dunedin. The horse is supposed to be identical with Silverwood, well known on local tracks. * * * * It is said that a horse trotted at the recent meeting who previously owned another name. The matter is being investigated here. By reference to the report of the proceedings at the North Island Trotting Association it will be observed that the association has determined to disqualify all horses competing at meetings held in the North Island which are not affiliated with the association. It was thought that it would be possible to avoid taking this extreme step, but the action of another association in attempting to cause much dissension necessitates the association taking up a position which will “ steady ” the association which is making a futile attempt to be-little the honest attempt the North Island Association is making to govern trotting affairs in a representative way. However, the North Island Association recognises that there has been much misrepresentation in a certain quarter, and as several owners of trotting horses have been victimised by such misrepresentation the association will probably formally disqualify the horses taking part at the Johnsonville and Wellington Trotting Meetings, and then immediately remove the disqualification, so as to permit these houses to be nominated for the Palmerston North and Hawke’s Bay Trotting Club Autumn Meetings. Owners will no doubt find such a proceeding greatly to their advantage. The results of the second day of the Wellington Trotting Meeting were Maiden : Little Eve 1, Jude Retford 2. Summer Handicap : Rotherham 1, Doll 2 ; won by a head. Ned Kelly came in first, but, was disqualified for inconsistent running. Dividend, £2 Is. Selling: Little Hero 1, Lilly 2; dividend £2 Bs. President’s Handicap: Hazelden 1, Carolina 2, Little Ben 3 ; dividend £5 18s. Pony Saddle : Bobby Burns 1, Thomas 2 ; dividend £7 10s. Kilbirnie Handicap: Jenny 1, Vim 2, dividend £1 13s. Final: Hampton 1, Invictus 2; dividend, £3 10s. Speculation was limited, only £B2B being passen through the totalisator for the meeting.
