OTAKI MAORI RACING CLUB’S SPRING HACK MEETING.

[by wire— OWN CORRESPONDENT. I November 12. The lOtaki races were postponed yesterday owing to the approach to the course being, under water. This decision was arrived at about 5 -©’clock in the morning, and although a message was sent to Wellington and Palmerston no definite information could be obtained save the bare rumour that the course was under water. The consequence was that a large number journeyed to Otaki only to be disappointed. The meeting took place to-day in beautiful weather, but the attendance was small, and £2,055 wont through the totalisator. The going was. a trifle heavy at the back of the course. The feature of the day’s racing was the excellent finishes, heads only separating the placed horses in almost every event. Princess Cole and her rider (R. Ross) were disqualified for three months for inconsistent running in the November Handicap. The mare was last away, and her rider did not appear to endeavour to cutch the leaders.
