MASTERTON-OPAKI JOCKEY CLUB.

The annual meeting of members of the Mas-terton-Opaki Jockey Club was held last Wednesday (21st inst.) at the Club Hotel. The balance sheet for the year 1894-95 was read and adopted. The balance-sheet showed the receipts for the year to be £1095 7s 7d, and included sale of privileges, £154 12s 9d ; totalisator, £434 13s 4d ; grandstand, £59 Ils 6d; rent, £77 12s 6d ; nominations, etc., £256 5s ; members’ subs., £7B ; which, with the balance from the previous year (£ll6 15s lid) made a grand total of £1212 3s 6d. The most important items of expenditure were : interest, £ll2 17s lid ; salaries, £4O; government tax, £7l 14s 2d ; stakes, £609 ; debentures redeemed, £2O; the balance to credit being —cash in hand and in bank, £77 14s 7d ; deposit in Building Society, £BO ; total credit, £l6l 14s 7d. The assets and liabilities of the Club stand as follows :—The total assets amount to £1967 Is lid, and liabilities £1651 9s 6d, leaving a balance in favour of the Club of £315 12s sd.

The auditors in their report submitted “That the totalisator investments should not pass through the books of the Club, as they form no part of the actual business of the Club.” The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr A. W. Cave ; vice-presi-dents, Messrs James Macara and Joseph lorns ; judge, Mr C. F. Vallance; secretary, Mr E. H. Waddington; handicapper, Mr J. E. Henry; clerk of scales, Mr T. Shaw; clerk of course, Mr W. lorns; time-keeper, Mr J. Muir; stewards, Messrs J. Mowlem, A. Henderson, F. Hill, G. H. Yates, E. E. Chamberlain, A. Walker, W. H. Buick, G. Drummond, J. Mandel, and T. D. Thompson ; treasurer, Mr A. A. Elkins ; auditors, Messrs Dalrymple and Hathaway. The appointment of starter was discussed, and it was generally admitted that the starting machine should be used, and it was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the stewards.

On the motion of Mr W. Cameron, seconded by Mr H. Yates, it was resolved in future to hold the annual meeting on the last Wednesday in July.
