THE GOURLAY-STOKES COMPANY.
The above talented combination made their bow to an Auckland audience at the Opera House on Monday evening last in the laughable comedyburlesque, entitled “ Revels,” which was followed by a budget of variety gems of an attractive order. • In both sections of the bill the company sustained their reputation as a comedy combination of the first water. “ Revels ” is one of those side-splitting burlesques, full of humorous situations and complications, such as one finds in the mirth-provoking production, “ Skipped by the Light of the Moon,” played at tbe Opera House a couple of years. Miss Amy Gourlay,as Kitty Kinley, and Mr W. Gourlay, as Tommy Shakespeare, were the life and soul of “ Revels,” and must be held responsible for the major part of the merriment evoked. The other members of the company also acquitted themselves of the parts allotted them in a highly satisfactory manner. The variety portion was quite up to date, almost every item being encored by a large and appreciative audience. A change of programme is announced for this evening, when “ That Awful Girl ” will be produced.
