L. A. Simpson, whose victory in the Ten Miles Championship of New South Wales, I announced last week, has (says the Referee} “ fully sustained the reputation as a first-class rider which he gained at the late Parramatta meeting. On Friday last, at North Shore, after being badly paced, he rode ten miles in record time of 26min 18 3-sth sec. An English inventor has brought out an electric starter and time recorder for bicycle races. It consists of a couple of discs, one at she starting point and the other at the finish. When the tape is broken at the finish the time is recorded, and at the same moment the instrument takes a photograph of the finish, showing the winner and those close to him.
