Annual Blood Stock Sales.
THE MOTU-KOREA YEARLINGS. The sale of Motu-Korea thoroughbred yearlings was held on December 27, at the island, at which there was a fair attendance of buyers, who were conveyed by a special steamer, which left the ferry tee at 1.30, returning at 5.30. Mr J. N> Philson wielded the hammer, and the sale was a most satisfactory one, the six lots offered realising 545 guineas. The breeders and owners of these yearlings are most enterprising gentlemen, and we congratulate them on the success of their first sale. We understand they expected higher figures for several lots, notably for the St. Leger—Friendship colt, but they must take into consideration this is their first sale and that a large of thoroughbred yearlings are being offered this season. The Motu-Korea stud is a select one, and the yearlings sold were well grown, and bore remarkable evidence of being carefully reared. They were in excellent condition. The whole of tfie lots were sold without reserve, and in this respect the owners acted wisely and are deserving of a word of commendation. The following is a list of the lots sold: — Gns. Chestnut colit, by Nelson—Tamora, Mr. G. N. Massey Baker .90 Brown filly, by Brigadier—Mystery, N. Massey Baker .1, 80 Roan colt, by Brigadier—Pearl, Mr J.
