WELLINGTON RACING CLUB’S SPRING MEETING.

The Spring meeting of the Wellington Racing Club will be held on Friday and Saturday next, November 17th and 18th, and as the acceptances are generally satisfactory the gathering should prove a success and provide some interesting racing. The programme will be opened on the first day with the Grandstand Handicap of sosovs, one mile, and for this twelve horses have accepted. Dreamland is the top weight with 8.10, and the other acceptors are Musket 8.6, Scot Free 8.3, Prince Cole 7.8, Freelance 7.7, Busybody 7.6, Violence 7.6, Daisy Clipper 7.5, Pinrose 7.0, La Petite Fille 7.0, Sea Serpent 6.11, and Legislator 6.0. The top weight, I think, holds the field safe and for a selection I would take Dreamland 1 Busybody 2 Prince Cole 3 The second event is the Hurdle Handicap of oosovs, if miles, and for this half a dozen have accepted. Waterbury heads the weights with 11 8, and gives the next horse 1 stone 41bs. Jacob has 10.3, Langley the Devil 9.12, Viola II g o, and Eclipse 9.0. After the grand dead heat that Waterbury ran with 11.8 with Norton in the Curragh Steeplechase at the C.J.C. meeting I regard the race

as a good thing for him and my antici pation is as follows : — Waterbury 1 Unity 2 Viola II 3 The Hack Hurdle Handicap of 30S0VS, one mile and a half, has been accepted by Vasco 11.4, Oddfellow 11 2, Pride of the Hills 10.4, Scatford 10.0, and Slavegirl 9.10. The top weight is my fancy and amongst the others I like Oddfellow and either of the two light weights. I would place them Vasco 1 Oddfellow z Slave Girl or Scatford 3 The Hutt Park Spring Handicap of 150 sovs, one mile.and a-quarter, has attracted 10 horses as follows :—Rangipuhi 8.12, Rosefeldt 8.11, Dreamland 8.6, Musket 8.2, Scot Free 7.12, Queen of Trumps 7.11, Krina 7.8, Prince Cole 7.7, Violence 7.5, and King Harry 6.11. I like tne Cup winner and the other two best ones I take to be the top weight, and Musket For places I would put them Rosefeldt 1 Rangipuhi 2 Musket 3 Four horses- are left in the Flying Handicap of three-quarters of a mile, viz., Rebellion 8 12, Free Lance 7.12, Busybody 7.8. and Sea Serpent 6.12. Rebellion and Busybody should provide the winner, and my fancy is— Busybody 1 Rebellion 2 Sea Serpent 3 The Hack Handicap of a mile has a field of 13 as follows : —Oddfellow 8.12, Erookfields 8.7. Primero 7.12, Delusion 7.12, Pumau 7.10, Sweet Dream 7.10, Sedition 7.8, AVaikino 7.6, Meddler 7.2, Suiatford 7.2, Dan 7.0, Tom Pippin 6.12, Vain Glory 6.10. My selection is— Sedition .., 1 Oddfellow 2 Pumau 3 For the Shorts of 50 sovs, four furlongs, there are four acceptors, viz.:— Swordbelt 8.2, Banner 7.11, Porepo 7.10, and Senator 7.6, and I look to see the finish thus — Porepo 1 Swordbelt 2 Banner 3 For the Maiden Plate of m 0 sovs, one mile and a distance, my selection is Banner or Senator.
