AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUB’S MEETING.
The next fixture of the Auckland Trotting Club takes place on Saturday next, November 4th, and promises to be well attended by trotting sportsmen. Good fields have entered for the seven events, and some interesting pacing should result. The first race will start at halfpast one o’clock, and the events are timed to allow the public to return to town at a comfortable hour. Return tickets (by tram) including admission to the course will be issued at is 6d. Additional interest will be given to the meeting by the presence of the trotting sire Director, who will give an exhibition of trotting during the afternoon.
There are sixteen names against the Spring Trot Handicap of ioosovs, two miles and a half, and the trotter on the scratch mark, Yum Yum, should show up well. This mare or Sandall’s best, Tom Hicks 33sec, Dinah 54sec, or Schoolgirl 41 sec, should win. Tom Hicks is a four-year-old by Muskapeer out of the Waikato mare Maud. 11 have entered for Harness Trot Handicap of 50S0VS, miles, and if Dinah wins the first event Sparrowhawk, with 38sec, should be very dangerous. Yum Yum scr, Mount iBsec, and Charlie, 18sec, should dispute places in the Electric Trot of 40S0VS, 1 mile ; and The Broker, 2osec, or Tinker, iBsec, should carry off the Maiden Trot Handicop of 40S0VS, miles. The Flying Handicap will be won either by Gillie, 9.10, or Helena, 7.0; and La Grippe, 9.10, and Coquette IL, 6 7, should provide the winner of the Tramway Handicap of 50S0VS, 7 furlongs. The Handidicap Hurdles of 35sovs, i| miles, has four entries, and the top weight Butterfly, 11.7, appears to be the best.
