RACING PROGRAMMES AUCKLAND RACING CLUB. From and after the Ist August 1893, a fee of ss. per month will he charged on all horses using, working, or training on the Ellerslie Racecourse. AUCKLAND RACING CLUB. The following New Rules, passed as under by the Conference held in November, 1892, came into force on the Ist August, 1893. Trainers, Jockeys and apprentices must make application at once. RULE 167 a. 1. The Metropolitan Jockey Clubs shall issue annual licenses to trainers, jockeys, and apprentices. Only holders of such licenses shall be qualified to train or ride under the “ The Rules of Racing,” except that an apprentice may for one month after the date of his first mount in public ride races without holding a license. “ Apprentice ” shall mean any lad employed in a training stable who has not previously ridden in public. 2. The fee payable for a trainer’s license shall be two pounds, for a jockey’s license one pound, and for an apprentice’s license ten shillings. 3. On application for a license the applicant shall forward to the Secretary of the Metropolitan Club of the district in which he resides the necessary fee, together with his full name and address. Such application shall be dealt with by the Committee as they may deem fit. The Committee may also suspend or cancel any license, and any person whose license has been withdrawn or suspended on the ground of misconduct or of the infringement of the “Rules of Racing” shall not be allowed in any weighing-room, stand or enclosure during the time his suspension is in force. 4. All licenses issued shall be immediately published in the “ Official Calendar.” 5. All licenses shall expire on the 31st July in each year. 6. An owner, or trainer, or both, who shall knowingly employ an unlicensed jockey, shall be fined any sum not exceeding twenty pounds each. WM. Waikato Sires’Produce Stakes, 1893-4, of 65 sovs, added to a sweepstake of 2 sovs each; 1 sov forfeit, or no liability if declared by 8 o’clock on night of General Entry for Summer Meeting, 1893, second horse to receive 10 sovs from the stakes, and owner of the winner’s sire to receive 5 sovs from the stakes. For two-year-olds. Colts, Bst 101 b; fillies and geldings, Bst 51b. The forfeit (1 sov) to be declared and paid to the Secretary by 12 noon on the day before the race, or the nominator will be liable for the whole stake. 4 Sot th Auckland Cup Handicap of 70 sovs, second horse to receive 5 sovs out of the stakes, third horse 2J sovs. Winner of any race of the value of 50 sovs after the declaration of the weights to carry 71b extra. Penalties not cumulative. Nomination, 30s; Acceptance, 40s. Distance, 1J miles. 5. McNicol Memorial Stakes Handicap of 25 sovs. Winner of South Auckland Cup to carry 71b extra. Nomination, 12s 6d; Acceptance. 12s 6d. Distance, 1 mile and a distance. 6. Handicap Steeplechase of 50 sovs; second horse to receive 5 sovs out of the stakes. Nomination, 20s ; Acceptance, 30s. Distance, about 3 miles. 7. Ladies’ Bracelet Handicap of 25 sovs ; second horse to receive 5 sovs out of the stakes. For hacks or hunters that have been ridden by ladies bona fide to the satisfaction of the stewards. Gentlemen riders. Nomination, 12s 6d; Acceptance, 12s 6d. Distance, 1 mile. 8. Flying Stakes Handicap of 20 sovs. Winner of South Auckland Cup to carry 71b extra: McNicol Memorial Stakes, 51b extra; penalties not cumulative. Nomination, 10s; Acceptance, 10s.
