Timaru, Sept. 28th. The Geraldine races were held to-day, and attracted a very fair attendance. The weather was not too fine, but not sufficiently bad to affect the racing. For the Squatters’ Handicap of josovs, one mile, only four horses accepted, viz., Beach, Jack, Throne, and Tohunga, and the latter was scratched. The firstnamed horse won by a head, and Jack and Throne finished in the order named. The winner paid a £lO dividend.

The Geraldine Cup of sosovs, one mile and a half, was something of a walk over for the winner, Prime Warden. The company was rather.- indifferent, and Prime Warden, with 9.8, romped home. Victim, 6.9, was second, and Spector, 6.12, third. The dividend on the favourite was a very short one, viz., £1 12s.

Six horses started for the Two Mile Trot of 30S0VS, and the winner, Try Me, won the event with the greatest of ease, lolanthe being second and T. L. Waratu third. Try Me paid £8 7s on the totalisator.

The Welter Handicap of 35SOVS, seven furlongs, brought out a field of five. Jack proved the winner, passing the post a length in front of the second horse Fireking, Duioon being third. Dividend on the winner was £6. For the Selling Race of 35SOVS, seven furlongs, six horses faced the starter, and Diver won by a length from Lady Styles second, and Prohibition third. Diver paid a dividend of /~io 16s. The Flying Handicap of 35SOVS, six furlongs, was resolved into a duel, Kate Greenaway, 8.10, and Finneta, 7.3, being the only starters. The former won easily and paid a dividend of £ 1 Bs.

For the Hack Race of 15SOVS, ten horses started. The winner proved to be Lady Styles, with Oarsman second and Diver third. Dividend, £2 4. The last event, the Belford Handicap of josovs, six furlongs, was won easily by Victim from a field of eleven. Freeborn was second and Akuata third. Dividend, £6 4s.
