SCENE IN A MELBOURNE THEATRE.

(from our own correspondent.) Quite a sensation has been caused in one of the Melbourne Theatres on the occas-

ion of a complimentary benefit. Out of pity’s sake I will not mention the name of the actor, nor will I give the name of the theatre. Suffice to say that the popular young actor came on and got his reception. Scarcely had the tremulous applause died away, when the voice of a wdman rang throughout the theatre and fairly electrified the house. Calling the actor by his real, not his professional name, she accused him of no end of things that had occured years ago at Ballarat. The audience appeared thunstruck, while the actor himself, at the first sound of the woman’s voice started as though he had been shot.
