Parnell, who shows signs of having been knocked about a bit, was brought back here on Saturday. Ike Earnshaw, the Sydney trainer, has. more than one New Zealand-bred nag in Ins charge, and therefore the following extracts from an article about the inmates of his establishment appearing in the Sydney Referee of the sth inst. will be interesting to my readers ; — ‘ Brown Bess, by St. Leger—Cantiniere, looks in good condition and fit to race. She is, however, uncertain at the best of times. In a recent race at Randwick she was gallopped upon and cut a good deal about the hocks. * * * Never Miss won a hurdle race at Randwick recently Since then he has been dickey on his forelegs and is to be blistered and given a spell. His near foreleg seems to be the cause of most of the trouble. * * * Tresfeldt, by Nordenfeldt - Tres Deuce, was formerly in Mr Day’s stable, but when she went under the galloway standard Mr Hordern lent her for racing purposes. She will eventually find her way to that gentleman’s stud for breeding purposes. She looks well, and may yet win more races.’
